Noise Ordinance 3
Sarasota's original music showcase is back for it's third installment this year with Noise Ordinance 3, a compilation disc featuring 36 hand picked 941 artists along with a massive all day Sara-Palooza that will be held on Nov 10th at Cock and Bull Pub.
N.O. founders, Claire Franklin, Katherine Derr and Ed Midler received close to one hundred submissions to this year's showcase and tirelessly narrowed down the massive amount of music to 36 selections, or 2 discs. "The submissions were judges on a number of factors" said Ed Midler "Quality and the ability to use the track on a CD that will be used for promotional value" were a large part of the decision process. When asked, Claire Franklin said "We listened to every track, one by one... looked up every band online, evaluated the quality of the recording and the song itself, and the 3 of us each made our selections and then we compared our choices... then we put them all together and listened again to make sure. It was a much more intimate process this year. No judging statistics, no specific criteria. Just each submission standing on its own. We feel really good about the choices this year. Half of the selections are new Noise Ordinance bands and we have a wide variety of genres"
A wide variety of genres indeed... This years disc/festival will have a little something for everyone, from the avant-garde musings of the recently engaged Bard & Mustache, lyrical hiphop funk of Big Blu House to the brit rock jams of Sarasota's powerhouse The Wallies. Below is a list of the 36 chosen ones, in alphabetical order, with links.
